I am at university, i have to upload a website I develop as an assignment, it will include server scripting. I need to know if geocities supports this or do I need to look for a web host who does?
I need to find out if geocities supports server scripting?
In short, yes, Geocities does support server scripting... but only if you pay for it. The free sites Geocities give you do not support this.
Here are a couple of excerpts from Yahoo's help pages which explain it, with the respective links below.
"GeoCities Free does not include support for these advanced scripting tools. If you'd like to use PHP and MySQL to develop a data-driven site, build advanced applications with Perl, or use any of our advanced add-ons (which are based on these scripting tools), you'll need to upgrade to a GeoCities Plus, GeoCities Pro, or Yahoo! Web Hosting plan."
"GeoCities Pro and all Yahoo! Web Hosting plans include support for advanced scripting tools. With any of these plans, you can use PHP and MySQL to develop a data-driven site, build advanced applications with Perl, and use any of our advanced add-ons (which are based on these scripting tools)."
